Become an owner

The arrival of a dog in the family is a responsible decision.
It is the result of long thought and consideration.

When we have a dog, perhaps the first thing we consider is the bond. Certainly, becoming an owner means that the dog will be an important factor in the planning of the programme. If you decide to become a responsible owner, you need to know and, most importantly, understand your four-legged friend. After all, this is one of the cornerstones of a happy and balanced dog-owner relationship.

In our kennel we offer 4 types of ownership options:

1. Hobby dog owner

Buying a dog is a conscious decision, which must be supported by the breeder from a professional point of view. The most important thing for us is that each owner takes home the dog that best suits him, his circumstances and the goals he wants to achieve with the dog, and with whom he will spend the next 15 years in happiness. Our kennel sells most of its puppies as Pet Quality puppies to the right owners. What does that mean? It means that the puppies are not show eligible. The pedigree of the puppy remains with the breeder until the puppy is spayed/neutered. Pet Quality does not apply to anything else! It does NOT mean that the puppy is less healthy or perfect! In our eyes they are still the same.

Why do we do this? Because most of the people who come to us are not breeders or have no experience in Australian Shepherds or breeding, we feel it is important to keep a close and watchful eye on the future of our breed.
We contractually require our hobby dogs to be neutered!

All puppies – before they move to their new family – undergo at least their first two vaccinations with us, receive a chip and a passport, which are registered by our vet. The puppy gets a minimum of 4 worming treatment and a clinical eye screening to rule out any diseases. Along with the puppies that come into the family, we give them a copy of the original pedigree, passport, copies of the parents’ genetic and show results, a few days’ food and a small starter pack.

If you have decided that you want a puppy from the BudNat kennel, please let us know. Send a message on Messenger or write an e-mail at budnataussies@gmail.com and we will reply to you as soon as we can.

2. Owner

<< Show Prospect puppy >> It is also possible to buy show quality puppies for breeding and competition purposes in our kennel. The prerequisite is that we assess the needs of the owner/kennel, anatomically, temperamentally and in all respects, selecting the most suitable puppy for the purpose to give our name, so that the BudNat kennel heritage can be carried on in the ring. Our show quality puppies are sold on an individual basis. We take great care in selecting the quality we want to represent us in the show ring, and we usually have a waiting list for breeder inquiries. If you are interested in such a puppy, don’t hesitate! Send us a letter of introduction via Messenger or e-mail to budnataussies@gmail.com and we will contact you. For more information visit the Kennel info page!

3. Co-owner

Co-owner situations occur when we feel that a good quality puppy can be placed with a family close to us or with a breeder/carer with whom we can communicate closely. What does co-ownership mean? It means that we own the breeding and showing rights to the puppy and the puppy is just a normal puppy. If we judge the puppy to be of show quality when it is quiet and fully grown, we will take it to shows and make all the necessary arrangements for breeding. Selling Show Quality puppies is a difficult decision and one we take very seriously. So if you are looking for something like this, please be patient and work closely with us!

In our kennel, we place a good number of our dogs in companion homes near us. We believe that all dogs, without exception, deserve a happy family life with quality time with their owners, filled with love and affection. We cannot keep every dog we think is promising, because our dogs are very important to us. They deserve quality time with their owners. That is why we use the institution of co-ownership with European as well as Hungarian hobby owners. Most of the time dogs are brought into a family as puppies or youngsters. Financially, this means that the co-owner can get a discount on a puppy, but it comes with a responsibility! For that puppy to later become a breedable adult, we need to be able to work well together and agree on all things that will benefit its health, development and welfare. The costs involved in bringing our co-owned dogs into breeding are based on an individual agreement, but in all cases we try to arrange things so that there is no extra cost to the owner. Co-owned dogs will continue to be included in Budnat’s breeding programme, so we expect a high degree of flexibility and cooperation from owners in this set-up, based on mutual and high levels of trust on both sides. We have set up some framework rules that must be respected in all circumstances in such cooperation. This applies to the physical condition, appearance and training of the dog.

If you feel that you would like to contribute to the development of our kennel in this way and would like to work with us, please don’t hesitate to contact us! Even if you are only interested in a puppy years from now, we welcome your interest as a co-owner, as we are not thinking in the short term! First of all, please send us your interest via Messenger or e-mail with an introduction to budnataussies@gmail.com, then we will get to know you personally.

4. Adoption

Adoption is an option for prepared adopters or families who are not thinking about a puppy. It is based on the same ideas and emotions as co-ownership: every dog deserves a happy family life. The adoption programme includes adult dogs who started out as promising show dogs, but for some reason did not become part of the breeding programme. Our kennel programme here includes breeding dogs that we no longer plan to work with.

We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic families for our four-legged companion adoption project 🐾
